Irish Hypnotherapy Association code of ethics


* Members must provide therapy that promotes the emotional, physical and mental well-being of each client.

* Members must ensure that if a physical or medical cause for a problem is suspected the client is encouraged to seek medical advice.

* Members must provide therapy within a reasonable time frame.

* Members must complete therapy within a reasonable time frame.

* Members must never undermine clients' self belief with negative client based reasons why the therapy isn't successful.

* Members must ensure the consulting rooms and facilities are safe, clean, secure and appropriate to their profession.

* Members must provide therapy within the scope and range of their therapeutic experience and competence.

* Members must be truthful and realistic in the description of their therapy and therapeutic goals.

* Members must not use their position of trust to engage in any emotional, physical or financial exploitation of their clients, in any way, whatsoever. Any irregularities that arise should be reported to the Irish Hypnotherapy Association.

* Members must conduct themselves at all times in accord with their status to ensure that they do not bring the Irish Hypnotherapy Association or Hypnotherapy in general into disrepute.


Granting Freedom strictly adheres to the I.H.A. code of ethics, including 'members must complete therapy in a reasonable time frame'. You will always get the most honest and ethical form of treatment possible, including if this means recommending an alternative form of treatment.
